I'm a longtime Rosetta@home member, starting in 2013. Rosetta@home tasks, Rosetta v4.20, complete successfully though new tasks with the application name Rosetta Beta v6.05 abend with the error "Error while computing" and the stdlist showing: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.27' not found (required by ../../projects/boinc.bakerlab.org_rosetta/rosetta_beta_6.05_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) My OS is Ubuntu 16.04 ESM using Ubuntu GLIBC 2.23-0ubuntu11.3+esm6. I will remain on Ubuntu 16.04 ESM until upgrading to Ubuntu Untiy 24.04.1 later this year. Since my system does not have the required GLIBC version to complete the Rosetta Beta v6.05 applications, how can I exclude Rosetta Beta v6.05 tasks from assignment to my computer? It seems a waste of time and resources to undertake the task only to abend at the end with no useful output. - John - |

how can I exclude Rosetta Beta v6.05 tasks from assignment to my computer? You can't. You can update the existing GLIBC to the required one, but while newer versions are supposed to be fully backward compatible, there's always that odd bit of software that will find the one section that isn't compatible... The only other option other than upgrading the OS now is to install GLIBC-2.27 in parallel with the existing system GLIBC, but upgrading the OS looks a whole lot easier. Grant Darwin NT |
