hey was wondering what are you using to remotely check all machines in your farm? also good to hear it now works :) EDIT: hmmm just looked at the time stamps and seems like it is a bit old thread. Sorry for bringing it back up. but i would still like to know :) |

6.10.56 tada!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALRIGHT!! I have a question though, you said "it is the only one with graphic card (ATI 4870) and it is on the project for about month now, when others (render nodes) are a bit slower, does not have graphic cards (I do not count 8MB Maxtor on the board)". Have you tried putting inexpensive stand alone video cards in those machines and seeing if they crunch faster? Boinc, and the pc in general, uses the video card for 'stuff' all the time, if it is 'on-board' or 'built-in' it means the cpu is being slowed down to do it. A cheapy video card may increase your crunching somewhat. The reason I thought of it is because I threw out 3 pci video cards yesterday myself. They were 2 two meg ones and 1 four meg one, they were old, in a box and I needed to put newer ones in the box and it was full, so 3 really old cards are now in the trash. Sometimes taking other peoples old computers means you collect too much 'stuff'! |

6.10.56 tada!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I just remotely upgraded most of mine yesterday. Version 6.11.4 is out as a test version if you like to live dangerously! Using test versions can result in alot of crunching with no credits coming thru at the end of it! I upgraded all my machines to 6.10.58, except those already using 6.10.56. |

6.10.56 tada!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well I dont want to spend any more money and there is not too much space for graphic cards in those 1U servers :) On top of it BOINC is used on those computers when they dont earn money and none of other programs here would use graphic card for computations. You need to take on account that the fastest PC is not only equipped with graphic card but have faster processors too. I am not sure if BOINC is using CUDA or OpenCL but only most recent and rather expansive (and big) cards support it. I am quite sure too that on board graphic card on server computer is not slowing down anything. Those are Dell R410 computers, designed to run fast. :) Sorry for late reply, but I seem not getting any emails when someone replies to my post. Strange. |

6.10.56 tada!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reply timing is not a problem!! As for Boinc using Cuda or OpenCL, it depends on the project, some use one and some use the other. I do not think any project uses both but it could. And yes I agree your Servers are very fast and the slowdown is minimal and is minimal on most newer computers too. AND you are right 1U boxes have very little room in them!! I am also glad you have found a way to make money off your pc's, must be nice!! Take care and just keep on crunching! |
